Average Pace in Swimming measured wrong including the rest time ??

I swim with an apple watch5 using the native sport app on the pool swim mode.

looks like the auto sets are pretty accurate most of the time includong the times per set but -

my average pace is really high around 2m per 100m while most of my sets are around 1:30-1:40 /100m (used to swim woth a Garmin watch when my Avg. pace used to be around 1:40/100m ~.

I think thatbthe Avg. pace is measured on the apple watch including the rest time instead of showing the actual Avg. per 100m.

Is there a way to change the way ot measures it? AFAIK the convention dor Avg. pace is to measure it excluding the rest times.

Good afternoon nimrodx,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are seeing different average pace when wearing your Garmin watch compared to the measurements in the Pool Swim mode on your Apple Watch. The way the measurement is calculated has been changed in the most recent version of watchOS. I've highlighted some key information here for you. Click on the link for complete details.

Swim with your Apple Watch

"View splits and sets

  1. On your iPhone, open the Activity app.
  2. Tap the Workouts tab.
  3. Tap the workout that you want to view.

The Pool Swim workout automatically tracks your splits and auto sets, while the Open Water Swim workout tracks splits. Splits are your total workout time divided by distance. Auto sets show your rest and swim time separately.

In earlier versions of watchOS, your rest time was subtracted from your splits. In the latest version of watchOS, your splits include your rest time."

There are other swim apps for the Apple Watch in the App Store including MySwimPro: Swim Workouts that may provide the analytics that you are looking for.

Take care.
