Cannot download Snapchat to iPhone 5

Are you sure that your iPhone is a 5s?

The latest iOS version for model 5s is 12.4.x.

The latest iOS version for model 5 is 10.3.4.

Check: Settings>General>About>Model Number... and post here the code that you see there.

My iphone 5 and its update is ios 10.3.4 i try'd to download snapchat and it says its incompatible and i tried downloading instagram and it says i need the ios 11 i went to my setting to update my iPhone 5 to the ios 11 but it said that my ios was up to date. And i dont have a sim card aslo. How can i download Snapchat?

I'm sorry, I probably gave you a false hope, but that was absolutely unwanted. After reading again the specs, this is what I've found in AppStore preview about Snapchat:--> ‎Snapchat on the App Store

If you go down to "Compatibility" there is a sort of contradiction:

Requires iOS 10.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max... (and then it talks about different devices)

I don't know why they say Requires iOS 10.0 or later (supported by model 5 or 5c), but then those models are not listed for compatibility (only model 5s or later). That's really weird / misleading.

I do not use Snapchat, so, the best thing to do is to contact Snapchat's support team and ask them.

iPhone 5 is 7 years old, and it's aging hardware cannot support iOS 11. An update will never be possible, your phone is simply too old.

Personal Question: Why do you use a 7 year old iPhone, when your phone has not seen an update in years now? (10.3.4 is the exception). The latest version is 13.2.3, not 11.

You are absolutely right. But this is not an Apple issue. This is a Snapchat issue because Snapchat chose to no longer support the iOS level on your older iPhone. Apple doesn’t determine which phones a 3rd party will support. It’s up to the App developers to support the phones they want to support.

Because according to Snapchat, they only support their app on iPhone 5s or higher. And before you suggest Apple should do something about that, Apple doesn't own Snapchat, nor their App. It is the App Developer who makes their app available to devices as they deem appropriate.

Okay, Dantheman. Unfortunately model 5 can't support iOS versions beyond 10.3.4.

To download apps, you need a Sim Card and a valid payment method for you Apple ID.
