Can you buy a EU model iPhone and use it in Canada? Are there disadvantages to this?

I'm in the Netherlands right now and will be until Christmas. I want to buy the iPhone 11 here. Will it work once I get back to Canada and are there any differences? Would it be better to have someone buy me an iPhone 11 from Canada and ship it to me here (disregarding the price differences)?

The warranty is only valid in the country of purchase.
