cant save files to desktop

I have just upgraded to Catalina and now I cannot save files to my desktop from emails. How do I fix this? Thanks!

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.15

What error do you get?

Does restarting resolve it?

Do you still have the problem in Safe Mohttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203538

I reset permissions from the link you sent and now all is well. I didn't have to go so far as going into terminal mode and typing in the command--just following the first section of the article did it. Thank you!
