How do I watch Apple TV plus on my older Apple TV

I can’t figure out how to watch Apple TV plus on my older Apple TV. I’m not able to use AirPlay from any devices (phone, iPad).

How old is old?

Apple TV+ is compatible with the following Apple TVs

Apple TV 4K
Apple TV HD
Apple TV (3rd generation)

All should be running the latest tvOS / Apple TV software
