I mistakenly deleted the software from my iPod Nano and have been unable to restore it

I mistakenly deleted the software from my Ipod nano and have been unable to restore it. When I plug my Ipod in I get a message that the port is inaccessible and to insert a disk even though the Ipod is plugged in.

Hello pdjr0321 and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you are having an issue restoring an iPod nano.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

If you're already following these steps and con't connect, check these things:

1) Make sure your version of iTunes is up to date

Update to the latest version of iTunes - Apple Support

2) Try a different cable or USB port

3) If you're running any kind of anti-virus or security software, consider uninstalling it and then trying to restore again.

Cheers.
