Then you haven't activated iCloud messages and don't keep contacts in the cloud. You can take your old iPhone to a reputable 3rd party repair shop that can do board level soldering and see if they can fix your phone long enough to do a backup of it and then restore from that.

If you turned on iCloud messages and you have your Contacts in the cloud you should be able to load them when you get a new iPhone.

Yes I do, I just hadn't backed it up to icloud before my phone broke.
