Can't Play Own Music on iPhone with Latest iOS Update

Just updated my iPhone to the latest iOS (13.2.2), and synced my music as well (~1,000 songs). Went to the Music app on my iPhone to check that everything was fine... and most of my songs have been grayed out, with the message "This song is not currently available in your country or region" when I try to play them. This happens when I am both signed in and out of the iTunes Store on the iPhone.

Is there a fix for this? Is Apple REALLY trying to prevent me from accessing my own music on my own device in favor of their streaming service that I don't want to buy into? I am really, really unhappy with this right now, as that appears to be the case.

EDIT: I should add that I don't this problem on my Mac(book Air)... for now.

My suggestion would be to create a playlist or categorise your own music into a number of playlists in terms of genre.

If any of your own music is an actual album, see if you can attach any album artwork to them.

I also have a small number of my own albums in my collection, but then, I haven't downloaded my entire collection of music to my iPhone.

Here's a response from an Apple Community Specialist:

I understand you have a song on your iPhone 7 that won't play, and you are being prompted to try Apple Music. To turn off the Apple Music prompt, tap Settings > Music and toggle the "Show Apple Music" button to "off" (white).

If you own the song then it was either synced from your iTunes library or downloaded from the iTunes Store. If it was synced, check to make sure the song plays properly in your iTunes library on your computer. Then delete the song from your device and sync it again.

Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your device

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using iTunes on your computer

Or you can redownload purchases from the iTunes Store:

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books

Take care.

I hope that works for you.
