How To Set Up iMessage For iPad OS13

Hi Friends,

I did a search on this but did not find much.

Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to enable texting on my iPad Pro 9.7 using OS13?

When I look at my Send & Receive on the iPad, my Gmail address I use for iCloud Populates that space.

I’m assuming that isn’t going to work.

Thank you for your advice on what I need to do to set this up.

Many thanks!

On an iPad, iMessage uses your Apple ID to send and receive iMessages. So, it sounds as if what you're seeing is a correct set up.

If you want to be able to send and receive SMS messages on your iPad, you'll need to connect it to your iPhone. Make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple ID. On the iPhone, go to Settings>Messages>Text Message Forwarding. Select your iPad and follow the prompts.

If you mean something else, please explain.

I see, thanks!!

On my iPhone I see Send & Receive with my cell number.

Below that are Share Name, Show Contact, Send Read, Send As SMS, moms, Group, Show Subject, Character, Blocked, Keep Mess, Filter Unknown, Raise to Listen, then Low Quality Mode.

I don’t see Text Message Forwarding.... I have the service with my carrier to do this, but it isn’t listed. Show I give them a call?

And thx..!

It should appear under "Show Contact Photos". If you don't see it, I suggest you sign out of iMessage on all of your devices. Power cycle them. Sign back into iMessage on your iPhone. Once it's completely activated, sign back in on your iPad. Once that's activated, go back to the iPhone. Hopefully, Text Message Forwarding will be there and you can set it up.
