Will Apple watch 42mm bands work on 44mm watches?

If I have an old 42mm sport loop band, can I use it on my new 44mm watch? Thanks!

Straps for the old smaller size watch, the 38mm work fine on the new 40mm, so I assume the same would be true in your case.
