apple pencil type 1 not charging - only a few weeks old
have turned everything off and on; software up to date; unpaired pencil but I can't charge it enough to pair - suggestions?

Has your Apple Pencil sat uncharged for an extended period of time? If so then it sounds like your battery has failed.
