Hello,

iPad (5th generation) supports a faster charging level with a higher wattage power transformer, such as Apple's 18W Power Adapter, when compared to the power adapter that came with iPad. iPad (5th generation) does not support the same amount of Fast Charge that the iPad Pro supports. The way iPad works is that if you connect a higher wattage power transformer the iPad will step down the power to what it can handle. iPad officially supports up to Apple's 30W Power Adapter.
