How do I mute a call with my airpod pro?

Hi - Did anyone get an answer on this? For phone calls, I’m very surprised you would have to utilize the actual telephone to mute the call, and that there is not functionality built into the actual AirPods. Has anyone been able to verify? I’m not seeing that as an option anywhere but wanted to validate. Surprised there is not more discussion on this topic but seems not many have been asking the question. Perhaps I’m the oddball who doesn’t like picking up the phone to unmute on phone calls!

as in where your phone is the call will be connected, but take em out
