Moving files from downloads folder

I'm looking for help moving large files from downloads folder to external HD to save space on my iMac. I have a 1Tb HD that has 110Gb of remaining space it's making my computer very slow. I don't want to delete files, just move them to another drive to free up space.

Can anyone help

Easiest way is to do this within the Terminal app, but I don't recommend it unless you are comfortable working from the command line as it can be easy for accidents to happen.

Eau Rouge's answer is fine. If you want to copy multiple files at one time, you can hold down the Shift key or Command key when selecting files - depending on if you want to select either a block of files at a time or multiple files within the Documents folder. I do this all the time to move files to my external drive: Select files -> Copy -> Delete -> Repeat if there are more files.

Thank you for reply. Additionally when I go to manage storage from the about this Mac>storage>manage storage pathway from there are an enormous amount of files stored in Documents. Evidently my computer will let me delete those file from this pathway but not move them anyone with ideas on how this can be done easily?

Thanx,

Daniel
