I am wanting to add RAM to my iMAC 2019

I am wanting to add RAM to my IMAC 2019. The instructions currently do not indicate which side the notch of the DIMM should be when I install it ( for this model) The notch is just off center. I have not opened the back yet, and it may be obvious once I have it open, but want to make sure I don't mess it up.

Which iMac??

The only iMacs designed to have user-upgradeable RAM are the 27-inch models, and you do not have to remove the back--there is a trap door allowing access to the RAM slots behind the upper portion of the stand. 2019 21.5-inch iMacs do not have user-accessible RAM.

Mac's are very picky and your best bet, is to purchase module kits from trusted suppliers like OWC macsales.com or Crucial.com that specialize in Mac RAM.

FWIW the notch locations move on DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 to prevent installing the wrong pin count and direction, not to help you guess or select PC modules that may or may not work in your Mac.
