Will Time Machine continue backing up if I put zero light into display and switch off going to sleep?

Hi all!

Before I move to new OS, I want to back up on Time Machine my laptop. Last time I did back up it was 100+ days, so it's a day long back up

When time machine starts backing up and the computer goes into sleep mode, will Time Machine continue to run? Will Time Machine continue backing up if I put zero light into display and switch off going to sleep?

Thank you in advance!

MacBook Air

Hi somanyquestions7,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you have a question about backing up your MacBook Air using Time Machine, and I'd like to help.

Looking at the Time Machine articles, you should be alright as long as your Mac doesn't go to sleep or shut off. Make sure you plug in your Mac to power, and change the settings in the Power Adapter tab, not the Battery tab. Adjust settings in Energy Saver

Back up your Mac with Time Machine

If a Time Machine backup takes longer than you expect

However, the great thing about Time Machine, is that you can be using your Mac and it will still back up in the background. Just set it to start the backup when you start your day.
