Audio & Video Display keeps cutting out on Panasonic Viera X2 via HDMI

Hi,
I'm connecting the new MacMini via HDMI to a Panasonic Viera X2 720p HDTV. I've confirmed that the display settings are correct & the macmini senses the Panasonic TV correctly, However, the display keeps cutting in and out (i.e. goes black, returns) at irregular intervals, I've tried swapping the hdmi cables & switching ports with no improvement.
Any ideas or is this possibly a defective HDMI out on the MacMini?

Hi. You did the right thing with trying a different cable and different input port on the TV.

Have you tested these same HDMI inputs with an HDMI device like a bluray player. It's important to have this source of comparison, so you can confirm the TV is working OK.

Yes, the port on the TV & the cable seems to work fine but I'm swapping it out anyway just to be sure. However, I think I solved the issue. I had the screen resolution set to 780p which is the HDTV resolution. I changed to 1344x755 (or something very similar) & now everything seems to be working great. Worked with the unit for 6 hrs straight with no cutting out.

Is that a typo when you say 780P?

Because 720P is an HD resolution, but 780 is not.

If you did mean 720, it's possible that your TV didn't like the refresh rate that the mac was sending out. You can sometimes change the refresh rate in the Displays control panel. But not all resolutions support different refresh rates.

Yes, you're right it was 720P but it does seem to be working well now.

I am having a similar problem with a 2010 Mac Mini connected to a projector via a receiver, all on HDMI. Every 30 seconds exactly the sound cuts out briefly and the projector flashes from surround to stereo.

I am on the verge of purchasing a Mac mini (my first foray into the Mac universe). I would like to use my six month old PANASONIC TV with HDMI as my monitor. I was alarmed to see the message about the interface problem and really did not understand if you adjusted the "display" resolution on the TV or on the Mac mini. I am completely new to this and really wanted to ensure that I could use my TV as a monitor before taking the plunge and purchasing the Mac mini. Could you kindly provide a bit more explanation please? Thanks

I this case the OP changed the resolution output of the mini from 720p to 1344 x755. He did this in the System Preferences/Display pane.
