The virtual keyboard on the iPad doesn’t come up sometimes

The virtual keyboard on the iPad doesn’t come up sometimes and I have to restart the iPad. I am getting quite frustrated because this happens regularly. Can you please tell me a permanent fix to this.

Under the Settings app, General > Reset, try a Reset All Settings.

If still no joy,

If you own a computer with iTunes, you made need to backup your iPad to iTunes, completely erase all contents and settings in Settings > General > Reset> Erase All Contents and Settings, setup your iPad as new, then restore your iPad from that iTunes backup.

This is all the ideas I have on this issue.

You could, also try contacting Apple support on this issue, as well.

Instead of having to restart the iPad each time this happen, have you tried simply just putting the iPad to sleep/locking it, then unlock the iPad?

This would be a quicker tempirary fix.

How much free, internal data storage space is left on this iPad?'

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
