My brother received a $100 gift card he has never used and was going to spend it on airpods, however i guess it is an iTunes gift card that needs to be added to your Apple ID and can't be used at the apple store. I'm wondering if there are any workarounds to this? The money all goes to the same place in the end... I thought they stopped selling iTunes-only gift cards after the stock market crash of 1929...

No, Apple's regular store for hardware sales is separate from its media store.

I was thinking something along the lines of purchasing though a retailer who would bill to your apple ID, like when you make in-app purchases. Thanks for the input.
I am not familiar with any retailer who ships physical goods doing any marketing through the iTunes Store. Everything I have ever heard of has been digital goods such as subscriptions.
