Unable to use my scanner since the new Catalina update. How do get it up and going again?

Apple's Preview, Image Capture, or follow instructions on this Brother page for Catalina.


The paid, non-subscription, 64-bit VueScan supports the ADS-1000W scanner without any Brother software or drivers. That is vendor independence.


I have owned VueScan Professional since 2010 and use it with a long discontinued Canon scanner. I have never paid an update fee in all this time, and the vendor does not reward me for mentioning their product here.
