I would highly recommend an upgrade. The 2nd gen is now 9 years old and will start to have issues sooner rather than later, and even existing providers have started to drop support.
The holiday season is a great time to find deals as well.
Disney have only released an app, which requires an Apple TV HD or 4K.
If you have an IOS device or Mac running the service you can use airplay or mirroring.
