Using sidecar (wired) and charging both devices at the same time.

Hi, I have a 2018 MacBook air and an iPad pro 10.5. When I use them in sidecar mode (wired) the 30w charger that comes with the MacBook cannot charge both devices and the battery slowly drains.

Question: If I buy a larger apple charger (~60w) will it charge both devices at the same time, or is there a limitation for the power pass-trough on the MacBook?

iPad pro connected (via USB-C) --> macbook Air connected (via USB-C) --> power

Thank you!

Hi Eduardo,

I didn’t solve this problem yet. I can’t find any guarantee that buying a bigger charger will solve the problem and I’m hesitant to pay but I think next month I will bite the bullet and buy a bigger apple charger. I will reply to this tread when I have some results.

Sorry to hear that your Anker charger does not work in this scenario.

Regards,

Norbert
