Macbook keypad and mouse pad stop working screen shows a white mouse graphic with green arrow

The computer was in idle mode for over 24 hours, when I tried to sign in mouse pad and keyboard stopped working. I turned it off and on again. Now the screen shows a white mouse graphic with green arrow, How do I fix this?

my keyboard and trackpad are not responding my keyboard and trackpad are not responding when the MacBook finishes turning on. They work when it asks for my password, i can enter my password with the keyboard and i use the trackpad mouse to hit the arrow for enter and the MacBook continues to power up. When it finishes the mouse pointer is stuck in the upper right corner and won't move and the keyboard will not work either. I had to attach a wired usb mouse and wired usb keyboard in order to use the computer. MacBook Pro will not shut down Additional info. Keyboard mouse still moving but screen is not responding. Little rectangle in middle of screen apprears to show prior screen image. I can use mouse to check battery life but all other comands do nothing. Help.
