Remove my AirPods from my iCloud account

Im giving my friend Airpods for his birthday (my old ones), and if I reset them by holding the button for 15 seconds will that remove them from my Icloud account? (The setup process, for the first time you used them.)

Then can just put them back in the box and gift it to him?

Hello,

You probably should go to Find My > Devices. Scroll down to your AirPods and swipe right. Then select the delete icon.
