iPhone 5 add minutes

I have my iPhone 5 that I don’t use any more but want to let my mother in law use it while she visits us. Where can I get a chip that works for it so I can add minutes to it? Will I be able to add minutes a 1G of data to it if I get a chip for it. What is best way to add minutes 1G data to my iPhone 5?
