Airpods Pro problem with Podcast App

Hi all,

I recently got airpods pro two days ago and noticed a huge problem with connectivity between the Apple Podcast app on the iphone (I have the 11 pro max) and switching between noise canceling mode and transparency mode using Siri via the microphone on the airpods pro.

When I'm listening to a podcast on the apple podcast app and toggle between the two modes with my voice, one earphone will stop playing audio or will be delayed or ahead of the other earphone by 1 or 2 seconds. Additionally, sometimes I will start hearing a constant clicking in the messed up earphone.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue because I've only heard the clicking in the right airpod. However, my suspicion is software. I have noticed that depending on which airpod i take out of the case first determines which earphone will go silent/be delayed. Usually the second earphone that I take out of the case gets messed up.

Interestingly, when I toggle between the modes while using the spotify or youtube app, I have NO problem.

I have reset my airpods, disconnected and reconnected, deleted and redownloaded the podcast app, and turned off "attention aware features" (per apple support recommendations), and none of these have fixed the problem.

I just want to throw this out there in the community to see if anyone has had any similar problems.

I will be taking this to the apple store this weekend to get it figured out and hopefully replaced. This should not be happening with $250+ headphones >:(

Yes, that’s happening to me too and it’s driving me nuts. I assume you listen at 2x speed? When I switched to 1x the problem goes away. I’m not sure if this is only a problem with some AirPods Pro, or all of them and it’ll get fixed with a firmware/software update 🤷🏼‍♂️

I got the clicking of the headphones to go away by changing to a smaller bud. The medium sized buds fit in my ear but don’t go deep enough apparently.

still having problems with the ANC voice toggle while listening to podcasts though..

i've been listening on 1x speed.

I ended up sending it back to amazon and getting a replacement pair and the problem still persists. Guess we'll have to wait for a software update..

This is happening on my 2nd gen Airpods (aka not pro). Like others, the phone speaker and other Bluetooth headphones / speakers skip forward and backwards just fine.

I've noticed that if I skip a bunch of times are move the time slider it seems to work better, although still really annoying.

Okay so my problem isn’t exactly similar, but equally insanely bothersome and also with the Apple podcast app:

When using the 15 second rewind button, the headphones stop plying audio from anywhere between 1 - 8 seconds while the podcast is playing. In order to go back 15 seconds, I have to do it twice (30 seconds), and wait for the audio to begin working again while the podcast has critical seconds ticking by.

this connectivity issue is driving me CRAZY. I returned the pair I bought and purchased new ones and they have the SAME PROBLEM.

Has anyone noticed this???

I listen at 1.5x speed. It's been the case with 2 sets of AirPods Pro so im thinking its a connectivity issue with all of them.

This isn't a problem with any other (Bluetooth or not) pair of headphones.

Drives me bonkers!

YES. I just came on here to see if anyone else is having this issue. Has APPLE responded elsewhere in this thread to this issue yet? It is a painfully subpar experience for the price paid and the claim of this being a premium product.

Any recommendations and patch/replacement/solution is appreciated.

I have this exact same issue. I fast forwards or rewind my podcasts and they stall. Makes me think I should not have bought these airpod pros

I’ve noticed that “double tap” works (30seconds instead of 15sec fast forwards). Can’t believe Apple hasn’t fixed this yet.

I let them know on Twitter but still no patch/fix. If you double tap (30 sec fast forward or reverse) it's not an issue. Just the single 15 sec that's an issue.
