No sound on iPhone or Watch when message arrives

I have an iPhone 11 pro and Apple Watch 6. My wife has the same thing. When a text message arrives on my iPhone and or Watch, I do not receive a tone alert. My wife's phone and watch both receive messages with tone alert. I have checked all my settings on the phone and watch compared to her settings, and everything is the same. I have had this problem going back several years on previous models of iPhone and watches. I have spoken to tech support a number of times and it never has been resolved. So many hours have been spent trying to resolve this problem. Any assistance would be appreciated. Mike
