Hi,
I am writing 2 pages of text in boxes, none of which interferes with the page numbering boxes top and bottom of each page.
When I export to PDF, I get 2 beautifully presented pages. However, when I export to DOCX, I then get 3 pages - an extra blank page in the middle.
I have reduced the font size and placed everything in well spaced out boxes, but still it produces 3 pages when converted to DOCX.
Any ideas?

Open your Pages documents, and from the View menu : Show Invisibles. You are looking for an extraneous, horizontal blue line that is some representation of a break (here a page break):
You have one too many and by double-clicking on this line, you can backspace to remove it. Then export to your Word document again.

On the first page, do you have any large block of multiple paragraph breaks, or Before/After Paragraph spacing that would force a new blank page after the first page? Again, switch on invisibles to check. Anything selected in the Format panel's More tab, such as Start paragraph on new page?
In Pages View menu, select Page Thumbnails. On the blank thumbnail, right-click and select Delete. If this whacks your document because it removes the entire section, then you can visit Edit : Undo Delete to reverse the delete.
If paragraph 1 is unfavorable, then select the second page thumbnail. Click at the very beginning of that page, and press backspace. Does the blank page disappear?
Where are you seeing three pages? Quick Look? Preview? MS Word? LibreOffice Writer?
Following your recipe, I get two Pages when exported to .docx and viewed in Quick Look, Preview, and LibreOffice Writer v6.3.2.2.

Well it all seems to have gone wrong again.
I cannot find any extraneous, horizontal blue lines and all my text in in 2 neat boxes which do not intrude on any headers or footers.
On exporting to DOCX, I am still getting 3 pages - the middle one being blank.
Any other ideas? Looking forward to anything you might have.

There nothing to suggest paragraph breaks or spacing of any kind on either page.
My workflow is as follows:
Start paragraph on new page is not selected either
I upload the .docx files to any number of sites and then download again just to see what it looks like. In order to read them, I have to employ Pages.
FYI: the pfd is 45kb and the docx is 500kb
Yes, by clicking on line 1 and hitting backspace, the blank page is deleted. However, then saving it does nothing as the next time it is opened, the blank page reappears.
