Airpods Pro wireless charge not working

Is anybody else having an issue with the Airpods Pro not charging wirelessly? When I place it on my wireless charging pad (Samsung, Choetech, and Yootech brands) they all charge it for a few minutes, but then the Airpods Pro stop taking the charge. I've gone through two brand new pairs of Airpods Pro and neither of them work.

I'm pretty sure this is related, but when I open up the case and the pop-up window of the Airpods Pro shows up on the iPhone, the icons of the Airpods buds will flicker between showing a normal battery status and then a red exclamation mark.

I've reset both sets of Airpods Pro. At the time both were on the most current firmware (584, 588).

As I've stated, I've gone through two brand new pairs (both bought from the an Apple Store one week apart) and both show these issues. I'm going to return this pair and just wait till all the bugs are sorted out.

found this in a thread:

My anker powerwave 7.5 both stand and pad can only charge

intermittently. I asked their customer service, they said it's not

compatible with airpods pro due to overheating issues. Once the airpods

pro is overheating the charge will stop, and it will resume once it

cools down. SO my current fix is just leave it as it is, it will be

fully charged in few hours anyway. I guess only apple can fix this

overheating problem. The cut off temperature of airpods pro is lower

than that of iphone, the iphone still holds the charge even its body is

quite hot.

Hi Shanesnh, my AirPods Pro is on firmware 2B588 and I am actually using Belkin BOOST UP BOLD 10W wireless charger. My AirPods Pro did charge to 100% and not too slow. (Like 1.5-2hrs from 50% to 100%) But I am having the same issues as martinvan which is below:

"My charger has that white led indicator to show if its recognizing a device and charging it. With the AirPods Pro, the white indicator of the charger is turning on and off every couple of minutes. BUT even when the charger white led is off (not recognizing device) and I double-tap on the AirPods case, the AirPods Pro are still showing either amber or green led which means that they are charging (showing amber led when it is under 90% and showing green led when it is above 90%). So charger is showing "not charging" (every couple of minutes) and AirPods Pro is showing "charging" (all the time)."

May I know what is your situation? Are you facing the same issues as me and martinvan? Or your AirPods Pro does not even charge with Belkin BOOST UP charger? Thanks for your reply.

Yes, all of the chargers would light up for a few moments as if they are charging, turn off for a few minutes, turn back on, etc. But I had no way to check the charge level as tapping the AirPods only shows green or red -- not a percentage. I just saw that all of the chargers (including Belkin and mophie) would indicate to me by its light that it has stopped charging. If I waited a few mins, it would turn the light back on as if it was charging again, and repeat. Occasionally, both the chargers would flash at me indicating metal was detected and charging would fail entirely (Belkin flashed amber and mophie flashed white as mophie only has one white colored LED).

So yeah it is basically the exact same thing because all of us have the exact same APP hardware and they are all exhibiting this behavior. It's documented well on reddit and other sites and Apple has been silent about it -- just as they have been silent about the ANC issue (which they just have me yet another NEW APP for that issue but of course both of these problems still remain -- but hey, I'll take a brand new set of AirPods under my AppleCare if that's what they think they should give me)

I was having the same problem but I think I’ve figured out what’s wrong with it(or mine) at least.

Make sure your wireless charging pad is compatible and working, etc.

Solution: charge only the case with no AirPods in it. If I put AirPods in the case and then put it on the charging pad, it won’t work. It will show my AirPods as charging but my case won’t save any battery.

I’m assuming it’s because if the AirPod is in the case when on a wireless charging pad, then it will always continue to transfer the energy to the AirPod without storing it for itself. Kind of like how some power banks won’t store any battery(or really slow) if it’s plugged in to the outlet and a device at the same time.

Inconvenient but at least I know my case isn’t broken.
