You will find "Alternating Row Color" under the Format>Table tab.

I don't know if you are responding to me but I am shocked that you can't find alternating row colors easily in Pages 7. I don't have access to it it was one of those versions that flew by but it is well after the major revision after '09.
Have you tried inserting a new table and choosing a template with alternating row colors? Or are they missing from 7's templates? What happens if you copy and paste a Numbers table into her Pages doc?

What I showed you in Pages v8.2.1 also works as well with Pages v7.1 in Sierra. It is just a table insertion, and the alternating pale blue row colors are from one of the table style insertion selections when you initially click the table tool bar item.
Something like this two-column table inserted into Pages v8.2.1? The checkmarks are entered with option+v shortcut.
my problem may be that I'm working with Pages 7.1 in Sierra--thanks for suggestion--I'll have to figure out if I want to upgrade but this is another reason--
