Purple apple Logo reboot Issue

I have seen this with few others in community and all ends with go-to Apple store for support. I noticed my. 2011/2012macbook pro rebooted on its own one day and a purple apple logo showed up...typically it's the grey apple logo. It would try to reboot then 1/2 way to 3/4...it goes to white screen. Recovery mode or safe mode don't work. Online help was able to get me to disk utility one time and was able to fix...it happened again. Online help couldn't get me to fix then went to apple store in Soho...some support guy named Mike was horrible support guy.

Anyone else had this issue and can offer some help?
