Missing App Store on Apple TV

Question

There is no app store located on my Apple TV.

Is there a way this can be added so I am able to add new apps?

So if I have a third generation Apple TV there is no possible way of downloading new apps?

The App Store is not available on the Apple TV (3rd generation or earlier).

The App Store is available on the Apple TV (4th generation or later).

That is correct. Only the preset channels on that model.
