Calalina - Brother Printer install - says installed but not showing in printer list.

I installed the new 64 bit driver. Says it installed. Don't find anything under applications or in the printer list. Was able to find the printer using its IP address. Has anyone had their Brother printer show up in the list of printers with Catalina? Any troubleshooting anyone can offer? Thanks.

My bad. There are installation instructions that appear after the download. In the past I just ran the installer and it showed up. You have to go into Printers and Scanners and follow the instructions pasted below, current as of 11-18-19.

For USB Users:

  1. Connect the USB cable into your machine and your Macintosh. Ensure that the machine is powered on.
  2. Note:
  3. Do not connect the machine to a USB port on a keyboard or a non-powered USB hub.
  4. The printer driver will be installed automatically.
  5. You need to make sure if the installation of the printer driver is complete.
  6. Select "System Preferences" from the Apple Menu.
  7. Click the "Printers & Scanners (Print & Scan)" icon.

     Case 1: CUPS Driver (Recommended)

  1. Check if your Brother machine is displayed in the "Printers" section.
  2. If your Brother machine is displayed, the setup is now complete.
  3. If your Brother machine is not displayed, try to disconnect and connect the USB interface cable to your Macintosh again. And then repeat the steps 4 - 6 to check if the installation of the printer driver is complete.

     Case 2: BR-Script Driver

  1. Click the "+" button which is located below the "Printers" section.
  2. Click the "Default" icon which is located at the top of the dialog box.
  3. Select your machine from the "Name (Printer Name)" list.
  4. Make sure that "XXXXXXX + PS" or "XXXXXXX + BR-Script3" is selected in the "Use (Print Using)" list. (Where XXXXXXX is your model name.)
  5. Click "Add". The printer is now available in the "Printers & Scanners (Print & Scan)" list.
  6. Select "Quit System Preferences" from the Apple Menu. The setup is now complete.

For Network Users (if applicable):
