desktop broken

Hello!

A have another problem:

On my Macbook Air Mid 2012, running MacOs 10.15.1, the desktop "doesn't work":

I can move/download/copy files onto the desktop, but cannot move/delete them from there.

It doesn't matter if I try to manipulate on the desktop itself, or from within a finder-window (~/desktop/)

Desktop and Documents-folder are not synched through iCloud.

What do I need to unlock?

Thank you!

david

If a simple reboot does not sort the issue, then

Boot into Recovery (Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904

If still no luck try a safe boot to clear cache files:

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test.
