Why does calendar keep turning on alerts I turned off?

I have a shared calendar that I share with my wife. We update it on our iPhones as well as on my Macbook Pro(s). One entry in particular that repeats every other week (pay day), I have turned off alerts, let it seems like once a month or so, it will turn itself back on. I don't want to turn off all calendar alerts, or even all alerts from this shared calendar. I'd just like to turn off alerts from this one entry and have them STAY OFF. Any ideas?

Ok, this happened again, and when I went to iCloud.com and checked the calendar there, the alert said "None". However, when I look at on my calendar on my Mac it said "Alert 1 day before at 9am". I fixed this on one of my Mac's and told it "All Future Events". Checked my other Mac and it STILL said "Alert 1 day before at 9AM". Fixed it there too, then checked my iPhone. Initially it had an alert there, but apparently sync'd and changed to "None" there. Why would what is in the iCloud not match what is on my other devices?

Hello VorlonShadow,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From what I understand, alerts from a shared calendar event are not staying off. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Turn of alerts directly from the iCloud website on the Macs instead of any other device to see if it will sync:
    1. Go to iCloud: iCloud
    2. Go to 'Calendar' then click the event in question.
    3. Set the 'Alert' to 'None.'
  • If you're still having issues, delete the event and recreate it with no alerts.

Best regards.
