My MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2012) will not access the internet.

It connects to the WiFi router however it does nothing afterwood. No data transmits either way. It cannot access any web pages etc.. Same thing when connected to a wired internet (ethernet). I've also noticed that all commands are being executed very very slow. The beachball pointer shows up for as simple as a print request. I tried to access diagnostics by powering on the computer and holding "D" however that process is requiring me to have access to the internet. Has anyone had this issue or know what I should do? I am not close to an Apple store or service center. Is there a diagnostic tool that I can download to a jump drive and run on my MacBook.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.15

HWTech,

Thank you so much for your help. Finally created a new Network Location, through the System Preferences options.. The problem with the internet has been remedied. I uninstalled CleanMyMac, rebooted and it looks like the Beachball and jumping icon issues have also been resolved.

Again, many thanks

Clayton

If you have spinning wheels then it sounds like you have a software issue. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can connect to the Internet. If so download & run Etrecheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. If you still cannot get online with Safe Mode, then use another computer to download EtreCheck to a USB drive so you can transfer it to your Mac.

Uninstall CleanMyMac by following the developer's instructions. Anti-virus & cleaning apps are not needed on a Mac and usually cause more problems than they solve, plus they slow down the computer.

I don't see anything else from the report.

Try rebooting both your laptop and your modem & router. I would suggest unplugging the power from the modem & router for a couple of minutes. If you still have issues, then create a new user account to see if the same network issues exist.
