Should I update my iPhone 3g to ios 4.0.1

Well, i've had lots of trouble after updating my iphone 3g to os 4.0. It became unbearably slow. I had to back it up, restore it to factory settings and then install the update again.
My phone's performance improved a little bit, but it is still slower than it was, when it was running os 3.1.3.

Well, I am kind of hoping that the new update would solve the slow performace of the iphone. So I would like to know what are people's feedback after updating iphone 3g to os 4.0.1? Should I update my iphone or I would be risking another hit in its performance??

iPhone 3g, iOS 4

Not slower than with 4.0, but still much more slower than with 3.1.3.

I would suggest you Do NOT update your 3g to 4.0.1, I did and now my phone is extremely slow and very unresponsive. I tried backing it up and restoring with no results. My suggestion would be to wait until Apple fixes the problems with this update for our phone. Upgrade to either 3GS or Iphone4 is not a solution

No No No don't do it. Now apple iphone is *****
I am told that I cannot officially get the handset back to OS 3.1.3. This is the same as apple saying that I cannot get back to being a customer.
I will not be forced to buy iPhone 4 because you have trashed my iPhone 3G with this incompatible OS4.
Turtle runs faster than my iphone
Thank you Apple for treating your customer like a piece of dirt.

I haven't tried 4.0.1, but 4.0 was an unbearable experience. Nevertheless, after a brief google search I successfully downgraded to 3.1.3, it's as easy as starting in DFID mode, restoring a 3.1.3 IPSW and kicking it out of the recovery mode loop, you'll find plenty of easy tutorials. Emails & other information will be, of course, gone, but that will sync back from the computer anyway.

This time I won't go against my best judgement and I will stay with 3.1.3 no matter what Apple says. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
