Is Display Port to Display Port really different display quality according to HDMI to the HDMI connection?

I have HDMI connection macbook pro 2014 with Viewsonic vx3276-2k.

I am using the Viewsonic vx3276-2k monitor on 2K and 60 Hz settings with HDMI to HDMI connection.

Display quality is very good.

I would like to buy and use Display Port 1.2 VESA to connect macbook pro 2014 with Viewsonic vx3276-2k. Display Port.

If I connect my devices via mini Dp to Display Port,

Will I gain a really different display quality according to HDMI to the HDMI connection?

Is it worth doing?

Do I need to buy a new display port cable?

Best.

You should switch to DisplayPort family. But not for the reason you cited.

HDMI is a legacy interface, intended to run HD TV sets. it has been pressed into service to run Monitors. It has been stretched to near the breaking point to run with displays higher than HD 1920 by 1080p. It includes the heartbeat refresh, that is, the ENTIRE screen data sent every 60th second refresh period. Modern displays do not need this, and it just generates unnecessary heat.

DisplayPort family is the modern interface that is used directly in DisplayPort family interfaces and indirectly in ThunderBolt display interfaces. It can run faster, at higher refresh rates, and runs cooler because it drops the heartbeat refresh and only sends the changed data. When the screen stops changing, the link goes nearly quiet.
