My iPad hasn’t been updated in a year or so and is really behind and I can’t update it is there any way to fix that

If your iPad will not update past 10.3 then you have an iPad (4th generation). This iPad model does not support any system version newer than 10. You cannot update your iPad any further. If you need to use an application that requires a newer system software version then you will need to purchase a newer iPad model.

No way to upgrade/update that model any farther.

If you want/need updated apps, then your only option is a new or discounted, refurbished iPad from Apple.
