AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 reduce the noise cancelling capability

Yep my replacements arrived on thursday and they auto updated ti the latest firmware within a few minutes. The noise cancelling is definitely below par compared to the earlier firmware and the volume is a lot lower. Does Apple acknowledge that this is now an issue

i am having this issue as well. ANC is like non-existence. I can talk with others with ANC turned on.

This makes ANC mode and transparency mode useless.

Hopefully Apple can release a firmware update to bring back the decent ANC ASAP.

I have reported it to Apple, but no response. If it is a bug, I believe it can be fixed in later delivery, but if it is done by intention, it will be a big trouble. I used Sony Wi-1000X before, the only reason I changed to Airpods Pro was better ANC.

Dear Apple, you should pay attention to all these posts here and get the ANC fixed ASAP. In addition you need to fix the low volume /poor audio quality problems when paired with Airfly and in flight entertainment. Twelve South rep said the root cause lies with your latest firmware.

Take this from an Apple fan of 30 + years. Do not disappoint your loyalty customers.

I am also having this issue. I will be returning if not fixed...otherwise there is nothing to substantially differentiate pros vs 2s except price. If people don’t like the ANC, turn off?!? Pretty awful to take away from everyone especially as this was big selling point.

Since Apple is not monitoring this forum, can anyone who is unhappy from ANC being weaker leave feedback on Apple's feedback page about this. If enough people do, Apple may notice that there is an issue and fix it.

Ok thanks for the answers, the fact that iOS 13.3 can change something doesn’t make much sense, the anc chip is inside the Airpods.

I can’t compare with the previous firmware because my AirPods updated The firmware immediately but I was unsatisfied with the anc performances from the first moment.

I saw some reviews on YouTube and they were very happy about the anc and told that the world around them almost disappeared; I’ve been having a total different experience.

I wrote to Apple in the feedback section as suggested, saying that if they reduced the efficacy of the anc due to some people experiencing dizziness etc they should at least give us the option to set the anc.

I spoke w/ Apple about this on chat. They are reaching out to discuss this issue (and cited this forum as the reason) and they both emailed me and called me for more information about the problem.

Has anyone else been contacted this way? I think they want to send it up to their Engineering Dept.

After Airpods Pro updated to 2b588, the capability of noise cancelling reduced. Now I use my wired in-ear phone instead of Airpods Pro, I am waiting the next update can return the capability of noise cancelling........Disappointed...........

I can confirm that version 2C54 does not fix the issue. The issue remains and I have sent this information over to the AppleCare rep that is handling my case.

Please fix the issue by restoring the Active Noise-Canceling settings to how they were on firmware 2B584 and prior to 2B588.

Active noise cancellation in the 2C54 firmware is absolutely useless! Apple deliberately spoiled the consumer qualities of the product I bought. And, unfortunately, I can't return it and get my money back. I'm very disappointed!

Please bring back true noise cancelling as in stock firmware as soon as possible because you are disappointing your customers so much. Your customers paid a good fortune for the noise cancelling feature and you are taking out at least 50% of it without consent do you think it''s still justice? Creating a scale to let users choose their accepted level of noise cancelling is not that difficult right?

I have ordered the Airpods pro at a local shop.

I was really happy with the ANC. it 'was' working perfect.

the airpods pro did automaticly a firmware upgrade to 2C54.

This is a huge diff. i'm totally not happy anymore with it.

also have the feeling i'm getting a pressure on my ears in transparency mode.

If  don't fix it soon. i will send them back.

bus and subway became more louder. when i bought APP, with ANC my volume was on 30-40% and it felt very comfortable to hear podcasts and audiobooks even in subway without damage on my ears. now I need to make volume minimum on 80% to hear smth during hearing the same files.

I haven't had that issue but the firmware is just not good quality. There is no changelog which is a shame because if there was, maybe we could explicitly see what they changed (even if it was vague) but these firmwares don't have that.

I still have a good fit (green) with the large tips. I got a good fit on the medium as well but the large just are more comfortable and more stable in my ears so I use those.

But the ANC is still horrible. I can hear myself typing this on my very quiet notebook keyboard with ANC on right now... Not how it was before 2B588.

I imagine Apple is working on this by now... If not, then.. they need to fix this now.
