AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 reduce the noise cancelling capability

After my AirPods Pro auto-update to firmware 2B588 the noise cancelling suddenly become very weak, almost no difference from Off mode and Noise cancel mode.

Reset the AirPods Pro fix it for few minutes, then it got auto-update and noise cancelling capability got reduced again.

If Apple reduce the noise cancelling function then AirPods Pro is simple lost it’s point, I don’t understand why Apple do this.

Currently, there is no way to downgrade or "reset" a firmware on Airpods Pro, KayneGiordano. My suggestion is the following. I compiled a full list of our current options to help right now below:

I'm going to reply to all those mentioning this issue with this information so they can get the help they need (and a notification that they were replied to. This way, they can all get help the quickest way possible)

Please do the following A and B:

A) Submit a case with AppleCare

1) Go to https://support.apple.com/airpods

2) Scroll to "Tell us how we can help"

3) Click "Get support"

4) Just go through the menus and pick the most relevant option. I suggest picking "Audio Quality" but there are others.

5) Click "Chat" and let them know through chat the problems and also please reference our thread in the chat: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250887615

(OR you can schedule a call but it may be best to ask for a follow-up call during the chat if they don't mention it themselves)

IMPORTANT: Mention that the ANC quality was reduced with the AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 and the problem is STILL in firmware 2C54!

ALSO:

B) Please also file a bug report about this on the feedback section while your case with AppleCare is ongoing. That way, both AppleCare and the bug report staff will see these reports.

If we all do this, they will see the growing number of issues with this.

Submit the bug report feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/airpods.html

Usually i am a patient man and all but what the **** is happening? There are no news, no new update, nothing. Every goddamn day, few times, i check this post, reddit and other for news and update but there's nothing. It's about **** time for Apple to say something about this problem. I can't believe that no one from Apple commented here.

Apple rarely confess to their errors. Look at the debacle with the series 4 watch when they released an iOS update that bricked a lot of series 4 watches and the HomePod bricking a few months back. They just quietly withdraw the update with no apologies to their customers for breaking their devices and applied a revised update a few weeks later.

i would have more respect for Apple if they manned up and grew a pair and admitted when they goofed......But of course the risk of bad publicity through public announcements is more important to them than good customer service

ANC doesn't produce real pressure that would push anything out of your ears though - that sensation is your brain misinterpreting the cancelation of a segment of the low and low-mid spectrum when the ANC engages as a pressure change. Studies have been done where pressure sensors were actually installed inside ANC headphones while being worn and they confirmed there's no real pressure differential being created.

Good article about it here:

I can only attest to my experience. There is a definite difference in them staying in my ears after the update.

The study you linked isn't for the inside the ear types. They use full size over the ear headphones, so it isn't really the best example.

If you just use logic, if their tech was limiting the airflow out, it would push more inside the ear canal and push them out. This could also be from the bass response. More bass pushes more air and there's not that much space in there.

Since the past week I feel like my ANC has gotten EVEN worse. I’m struggling to hear even a minute difference between ‘Off’ and ‘ANC’. Also I feel like bass has decreased significantly too. These are my replacement AirPods after already contacting Apple about this ANC issue so I don’t even know what to do now. I’ve even bought replacement ear tips to see if that was the problem but it’s still barely working

AWESOME TO SEE THIS!!!

Guys, contains your excitement,

I've talked to CC many times and they have no clue about the anc issue.

So probably what the user reported is just a statement of a call center operator that use prepackaged answers...

I am 15 feet away from people talking in my office and I can clearly hear them at half volume with the ANC on!

I requested replacements and I hope they are marginally better.

Total B.S. they broke them and now sold a defective product with no fix in place. I doubt they will be any different, but I want Apple to see people are returning these since they ruined them.
