AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 reduce the noise cancelling capability

After my AirPods Pro auto-update to firmware 2B588 the noise cancelling suddenly become very weak, almost no difference from Off mode and Noise cancel mode.

Reset the AirPods Pro fix it for few minutes, then it got auto-update and noise cancelling capability got reduced again.

If Apple reduce the noise cancelling function then AirPods Pro is simple lost it’s point, I don’t understand why Apple do this.

Currently, there is no way to downgrade or "reset" a firmware on Airpods Pro, KayneGiordano. My suggestion is the following. I compiled a full list of our current options to help right now below:

I'm going to reply to all those mentioning this issue with this information so they can get the help they need (and a notification that they were replied to. This way, they can all get help the quickest way possible)

Please do the following A and B:

A) Submit a case with AppleCare

1) Go to https://support.apple.com/airpods

2) Scroll to "Tell us how we can help"

3) Click "Get support"

4) Just go through the menus and pick the most relevant option. I suggest picking "Audio Quality" but there are others.

5) Click "Chat" and let them know through chat the problems and also please reference our thread in the chat: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250887615

(OR you can schedule a call but it may be best to ask for a follow-up call during the chat if they don't mention it themselves)

IMPORTANT: Mention that the ANC quality was reduced with the AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 and the problem is STILL in firmware 2C54!

ALSO:

B) Please also file a bug report about this on the feedback section while your case with AppleCare is ongoing. That way, both AppleCare and the bug report staff will see these reports.

If we all do this, they will see the growing number of issues with this.

Submit the bug report feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/airpods.html

I have now just accepted the fact that my APP replacements will never be as good as the launch firmware. They work and I have no crackling issues that some have experienced (as yet!). It is a real shame but I don't see anything happening to improve this, other than buying the next version whenever that comes out. Which I can guarantee you I will not be doing, despite being a massive Apple fan.

Screaming into the void on here does no good.

I have the static/cracking issue and had it on 3 sets. I'm asking again for a FULL replacement of the ENTIRE AirPods set as I have AppleCare+ and these have multiple issues. It's not unlivable but we'll see if they do anything at all cuz the appt is for the iPhone's battery (since 13.4.1 has destroyed it and no update after has fixed it) but a new battery likely won't help a software issue -- but will increase resale value if I have to seriously switch phones...

I'd like them to handle both my iPhone and APP issues at the same Genius Bar appt but we will see. Screaming into a void.

2D15 isn't much better with ANC. Was reading this in the Medium, and may answer some of your questions.

Separately, I use an iPad Mini 3 for random stuff and since I installed iOS 12.4.7 my iPad Mini bluetooth frequently disconnects and reconnects. Wiped the device clean and set it up as a new iPad but did not resolve the issue. Other bluetooth devices work just fine, so it's not a h/w issue. Yes, I have reset the AirPods a couple of times.

i seen this article before:

i have done many things to fix this APP debacle. I contacted their support team and PR department about the media traction this situation is getting and many others things that I cannot disclose in this thread for legal reasons. I will keep trying if I need to, I thought the 2D15 update would make everyone more lax, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. If everyone would like, I can start everything back up again to try to fix this for everyone. But it’s going to take some time. Hopefully.

I had many other reasons for feeling the way I did.

I was a loyal customer for 13 years and was also plagued by the APP clicking sound (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251050158) and the ridiculous iOS 13.4.1 (13.5, 13.5.1) battery draining bug (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251265543) that rendered my $1200 XS Max unusable. And then I was called a liar and talked to like an animal by GM of the Apple Store and that was the last straw. You can see my post from the other forums.

My last post there:

Yeap. I am done with Apple.

Went to the Apple Store and was talked to and treated like an animal (minus one kind Korean female staff member who was empathetic).

The GM (Aussie guy) at the Seoul Flagship store accused me of lying (implicitly) and finally threw me over the edge to switch to Samsung (where I not only received great customer service but also a bunch of free perks and free gifts).

Shiny new S20 Ultra with 5G and an AMOLED and battery bigger than my face.

My gf sold my iPhone for me today.

13 years of loyal Apple customer -- OVER. AND OUT.

That was the only proper fix for this problem for me!

Someone let us know because I sold my iPhone now after https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251265543?page=14 a battery that drained in about 2 hours and being talked down to at Apple Store. So I'd have to borrow my friend's iPad to update APP which are the only product that I still have. Going to gift my dad my old Apple Watch as a late Father's Day gift while I use my S20 Ultra and Watch Active2.

Thank you Streetspy. You and suntan (above) have convinced me not to bother updating the AirPods (esp. now that I sold my iPhone after 4 major problems with Apple in the last 7 months that have not been resolved).

Apple has lost touch with its user base and is losing users quickly -- me being one of them. 13 years of loyalty are 100% gone. I will keep my AirPods though for now as I already spent quite a lot on those as well just like all of us did 🙃
