AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 reduce the noise cancelling capability

After my AirPods Pro auto-update to firmware 2B588 the noise cancelling suddenly become very weak, almost no difference from Off mode and Noise cancel mode.

Reset the AirPods Pro fix it for few minutes, then it got auto-update and noise cancelling capability got reduced again.

If Apple reduce the noise cancelling function then AirPods Pro is simple lost it’s point, I don’t understand why Apple do this.

I'm in Korea. Samsung takes things seriously here.

Apple says all of the problems on this forum are BS including any problem you may have ever had with an Apple product.


And I have a warranty on my phone just like I did with my iPhone. But Samsung customer service was actually courteous and gave me all kinds of free gifts and even $150 worth of points towards other products.


Apple gave me a sick feeling in my stomach and degraded me in a little glass corner because of "COVID-19" which is under control here. Only company in this country that is putting people in glass cages for their appointments still because it's an American company and the US has miserably failed to contain the virus that Korea contained the best out of any country on this planet.


Apple is not the same company it was 10 years ago and that's why it's time to be done.

They treat their customers like slaves and degrade them. Done. 13 years and thousands of dollars later. DONE.


Samsung is the flagship company of Korea.


Samsung US is... not so much. So, can't help you there.


Ship the TV back then or talk to a manager. US customer service reps tend to forget that they are supposed to "service" the "customer". Even though that's their job title.

Just further to my last. I’ve only run them for a few hours. Maybe I was a bit too optimistic or my surroundings weren’t quite as controlled.

I find it’s quite difficult to get a really good seal these days anyway.

I still think they feel initially a step in the right direction. Others are reporting it sounds worse.

mum finding with music playing at half volume now the world does seem to fade away much more than I’ve had since 2B588


i can only go on my personal experience.

they’re still woefully sub-par compared to 1000X in all departments apart from form factor and convenience.

but to me they’ve improved since 2D17

50/50 chance.


Apple has botched 2B588, 2D3 (unreleased but shipped with replacement AirPods), and 2D15. 2B584 was the only okay update. That's 3/4 botched updates. A 50/50 chance with the current survey of only a few people and a running record of 75% botched updates since 2B588 leads me to cut my losses and not update.

2D27 is now on my APPro. ANC is vastly improved! HOWEVER, as iZian mentioned in his post, I am also not able to get a "good seal" when I run the "Ear Tip Fit Test", specifically on the Right earbud. Is anyone else having this problem? I never had this problem prior to 2D27. I think that in fact, I actually have a good seal, but the fit test now has a problem.

Do you hear a lack of bass when you're running the Ear tip fit test? In the right earbud which gives you yellow? What about bass with music when turning ANC OFF?

I've had 2 set of replacements because of this. Bass weakened noticably, especially with ANC OFF, and fit test yellow. When I got my first originals, I got "good seal" (green) for some time. That also happened with my 1st replacements. Green all the time for a while (1-2 months), then just yellow... Now I'm on my 2nd replacements, and it's still green with the amount of bass that they are supposed to give. Hopefully it will last this time. No difference when updating to 2D27 for me.

Not Apple's fault. And Covid is hardly contained here.

That's a harsh statement considering the climate of today, but not unexpected considering your conduct here.

They are the flagship of the government, that's why they keep letting Lee off for embezzlement and the numerous other things he's done. You should know that, after all you live here.

This is just a false statement. Samsung ditched locale specific products 15 years ago. The same TV we have in our living room is the same one you can buy in the US, Europe, China, Japan... etc.

I shipped my faulty airpods2 back to apple after getting standby airpods today. Problem in both the airpods have different old firmware on it. one 1Axx, other one is 2Bxx; apple tech advised to update one at a time,


Do we leave the cover of the case open to push the firmware?


I have been trying to update the firmware for a while now, and it wont update. Can someone kindly assist what I might be doing wrong?

So I had 2B588 ruin my life like many and the ANC died.


but also, I think this is linked, in “off” mode (no ANC no transparency) mine sounded garbage. Utterly garbage. No bass. Like listening underwater or in a tunnel.

and sometimes with ANC on, or transparency on, if I spoke too loudly I’d get digital squeal very loud in my ear, not high pitched.


I finally got round to ACare replacing them today and the replacement arrived. Both AirPods replaced.

move just let them update to 2D27 as they arrived on 2D17. I, as close as possible, side by side tested and it’s night and day difference.


when set to “off” they don’t sound garbage. And with ANC “on” I think that they’re close to what I experienced on demo models at launch.


I encourage you if yours sound like underwater almost when the ANC is off, even after a full reset (hold past white to orange flash) to get in touch with Apple.


honestly I didn’t believe it until I just got these replacements. There was definitely something off with my hardware. These are still 1.0.0


literally I can not describe in words the difference when “off” between my old and replaced set on the same firmware.

the ANC , I don’t know. It’s better by miles than 2B588. Is it as good as launch? Not sure.

is it good enough for me personally now? Yeah.


I hope this helps someone if theirs sound like garbage in off mode there might be a hardware issue.

Okay, relax man. Yes, we know about that corruption and Lee was convicted (although he got off), we know. It's disgusting. I know.


Apple Store in Seoul's arrogant GM ****** me off and that's when I was on here ranting. Sorry, his attitude was disgusting and I took it out on here. Don't want to argue. Was just really upset at his nasty tone and how he talked to me like a child when I've been a loyal customer and know probably more about the products than he does since I've been deep into them for a decade and a half since I was 11 years old.


And when I said Samsung customer service, I just meant the staff in the Samsung store that helped me when I was buying a product. I was not in my right mind when I posted it and had enough with my iPhone that was dying after 4 hours.


Neither company is infallible and both are very rich, very successful and with that comes corruption. I think we can agree on that. No hard feelings. You caught me in a REALLY bad mood because of one idiot Apple GM that reamed me and degraded me like a child in front of an entire store in Korea making me feel like an idiot. And another Apple rep saying my "Airpods had water damage" which they didn't and I said "nothing but a bit of sweat and they are water-resistant for that reason" and even the arrogant GM dismissed that other guy's claim. I was just getting attacked from all sides that day and came back to this forum immediately to rant.


I still have Airpods. I came back to see if I should update to 2D27 or not 2 months later.


Anyway, I'm human and I just got upset at the conduct of the Apple employees (esp. the GM of the only official store in Seoul) and how he dismissed anything and everything I had to ask or say as if it was nonsense. He was the definition of narcissism. Delusions of grandeur. Thought he was Jobs himself.

So many months without any signals from Apple.


I got my AirPods Pro replaced today. I was wondering, cause the new ones come with firmware version 2D27 and hardware version 1.0.0 and serial number isn‘t recognized any more :-(


ANC is still weak or as weak as before. I can still hear and unterstand people talking 15 feet away.


Now i am waiting for the firmware update to happen automatically. But i believe it will improve anything.

Mine are made Week 39 and 40.

The firmware is now updated to 3A283, the serial number is displayed too. But nothing changed, i still have poor noice canceling.

@Apple: that‘s very frustrating! Thank you for nothing.


I don‘t know if i should order the new iPhone this friday. I had to many Apple devices in the last years that had poor quality or didn‘t last long. Two iPad Pros touch screen don’t react occasionally, iPad Pros Battery broken, iPad Smart Keyboard is not connected after Standby, iPhone battery is broken after 2 years, Apple Watch’s battery is down, my wife’s Hermes Watch had a black screen after 4 weeks and finally the AirPods Pro do not work as advertised!
