Apple TV on old network and remote not working

My Apple TV is on my old network and the remote is not working. I cannot get my phone remote to work since it’s on a different network and not sure how to reset the remote to even switch the network. This is one of the first versions of Apple TV so I have that all my number mode and hoping to get help so I can actually watch my Apple TV.

If you want to change the network settings on your Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), then you may need the physical remote. A temporarily borrowed one would also be good enough.

If you have the Apple Remote (aluminum) and it isn’t working, then try to unlink any previous remote, then link again. If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support
