brown marks on airpod stems

I have owned my AirPods for the past 11 months, and gradually these brown marks have grown on the bottom. I don’t understand whether this is a sanitation issue or whether it has to do with the AirPods itself. Whatever the matter is, I would like clarification just Incase something is wrong.
