Family Sharing/Apple ID

I have an Apple ID with my Dad's e-mail address. This is used by my Dad, Mum and myself. We have used this for many years but I would like to try and separate the IDs.

I'm thinking of using the Family Sharing feature. I'm the only one that uses iCloud for photos and I want to make sure if I make my Dad is the organiser (as its his e-mail address), once I log into a "new" ID and we "share" iCloud - will I still be able to access them on iCloud as its still the same phone (if that makes sense)? I guess my messages on iMessage will be OK as well as its my phone number being used and not my Dad's password?

Thanks for your help :-)

What you wish to do can be very problematic after an ID has been shared. There is no easy solution.

I presume you have your own iPhone or something? If yes, turn off iCloud Photos for that device. It should let you keep photos you currently have on that device. Then read the "How do I turn off iCloud Photos on only one device?" section in this link Delete photos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

So what you are doing is turning off the connection to iCloud on the phone, retaining the photos on the phone, then turning on iCloud Photos again but this time to your new user account. It should then sync the photos on your phone to your new account.

Note in the article I linked that it mentions "originals" and optimized versions. If in order to save space you have optimized the photos on your phone you may need to turn this off first otherwise it is the reduced quality photos that will be saved.

A general topic about this is here:
