Software Update says it's up-to-date and won't install Catalina. Any suggestions?

The Apple support site shows that my mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina, with Mojave 10.14.16 installed should be compatible with Catalina (Model and memory space). However, Software Update says it's up-to-date and won't install Catalina. Any suggestions?

Hi: Thanks for the response; unfortunately it doesn't address my issue. As stated, my Macbook Pro Retina, mid-12, with Mojave 10.14.6 installed is in the list of compatible models. There is sufficient memory (16 GB) and storage (393 GB) available and therefore it ought to install Catalina. However, as stated, Software Upgrade shows "your Mac is up to date - Mac OS Mojave 1.14.6". Attempting to install Catalina from within the App store won't work either - it brings up "Update not found - The requested version of macOS is not available. "

Software Update says it's up-to-date and won't install Catalina. Any suggestions?
