Saving Space on iPad Air 1st generation

I have an iPhone 6s, iPad Air 1st generation and loads of space on iCloud

The iPad was given me some years back and really all I do with it is a little bit of word processing, store music and photographs and of course use the net

The actual iPad has only 16gb of storage and I’ve only 1.2gb left. What I’d like to know is whether or not I can delete all of the heavy users of space: music, photos and video and let me free up space, while at the same time retrieve them if I need them

Why not buy a new iPad, I hear you ask? Well I did buy an iPad Pro from Curry’s online on Saturday on Sunday the cancelled the order saying they had no more in stock. That’s a 👎👎👎👎👎 for Curry’s

Of course any other advice you can offer re spacing space will be welcome

(f you want to save your photo/images and videos offline for later with no fear of accidental deletion, I would look to a data storage/backup/retrieval service, like Google Drive/Photos.

You get 15 GBs of true online/offsite data storage for free or100 GBs of true data storage for $1.99/month.

This is 3 times the amount of storage Apple offers for free.

Just sign up for a Google account and you can install both the Google Drive and Google Photo app, from the iOS App Store, for free and start uploading your photo/images and videos.

Hello,

If you delete something on iPad you will not be able to retrieve the file. iCloud storage does not do a whole lot if your device has 16 GB of internal storage. Information stored on iCloud is also stored locally on device. You can manage iPad's internal storage in Settings > General > iPad Storage. From here you can decide what you would like to delete.
