MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2012): 16 gb RAM - 1 slot?

Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 "(mid 2012).

I read on various forums that it is possible to install up to 16 GB RAM. However, one of the two slots is defective. It is therefore impossible to install 2 times 8 GB.

So my question is: can I install a RAM bar of 16 gb so that I still have 16 gb of RAM but only need to use 1 slot?

Any suggestions for good performance RAM bars (16 gb)?

Thanks in advance for your response.

You can install up to an 8GB DIMM in each of the two slots, for a total of 16GB. If one slot is broken, you can't put a 16GB DIMM in it because it does not have the Address lines connected to support that.

Take care to Install EXACTLY the correct spec RAM -- not lower and also not faster, because they will appear to work, but crash a few times a week to a few times a day. Readers here suggest you deal with a Mac-Centric Vendor with the expertise to tell YOU what DIMMs to install, or your money back. These vendors also provide a lifetime exchange warranty.
