I just discovered walkie-talkie on my watch. I don't want it and can't find out how to disable it. I don't have Facetime installed on my iPhone so perhaps that is causing problems because I can't see how to change my availability as described in some pages.

It doesn't hurt anything to leave the App on your Watch...just don't activate it.
That page has this quote: "Additionally, if you want to completely remove the Walkie-Talkie app from your Apple Watch, you can simply delete the FaceTime app on your iPhone (this won’t prevent you from making FaceTime calls, those can still be made through the Phone app). This will remove the Walkie-Talkie icon from your Apple Watch home screen and prevent you from using Walkie-Talkie."
The problem is that I already (years ago) removed FaceTime from my iPhone. So the instructions on the page do not work.
What does this mean? "simply delete the FaceTime app on your iPhone".
How can I remove an app that is not installed on my iPhone?
I tried to reinstall the app on my iPhone and then remove it and the problem still happens. If I open the Walkie-Talkie app on my watch it just displays a list of contacts (hundreds of them).
I'm afraid I'm at at a loss now,the only thing I can think of now is to hide the walkie talkie app,I know this doesn't get rid of it permamently but it's as they say out of sight out of mind.
Open the Apple Watch app on iPhone.
Select the “My Watch” tab at the bottom of the screen.
Scroll down to see apps that have been installed.
Select the app you want to hide.
On the next screen, toggle the button that says “Show App on Apple Watch.”
If this doesn't work either then I think a visit to a local apple store is called for.
I tried completely resetting my watch (Version 6.1) and setting it up as a new watch. It still has Walkie Talkie app. (BTW I have another watch Version 4.3.2 - paired with same phone - which doesn't have Walkie-Talkie on it.) Walkie-Talkie does not have a Hide option.
If you have Walkie-Talkie on a phone can does it start with an alphabetical list of all your contacts? That makes it impossible to find a contact to talk with. Or is this a problem because I do not have FaceTime installed on my phone?
It's talking about facetime calls in the phone app not the actual facetime app.
Yes remove the stand alone facetime app that you download from the app store.
You could reinstall it again and then uninstall it,there maybe some configuration files that were not removed when you last deleted it.
How can I uninstall walkie-talkie?
